Welcome to KapahuluAvenue.com. We are here to gather information in our community, for our community. We go after topics that our community members may find interesting and helpful. That could be helpful tips and resources for the business owners and residence. Unlike other internet community site, we actually have volunteers go around the neighborhood, visit the businesses, try out the restaurants and report them back to us. Some of them even live in the neighborhood. So far, we have complied a few lists just by walking around with pen and paper in hands. There are lists on businesses, restaurants, parks, schools. Eventually these lists will be expanded and become directories. We hope you will find them helpful to be here all in one place. We also have a simplified map of Kapahulu Avenue- very useful if you just don’t remember the name of the shop that you passed by the other day. We will gather more information as we go. Let us know if you would like to volunteer for a topic. We love to hear from you. Last month we have the gas price research. what we found is that Kapahulu Tesoro and Aloha gas stations have the cheapest gas in town overall.

And by the way, “We” mentioned above is mostly “I” until I find some wolunteers to write and snap pictures. It will be more fun with different voices on this “community” blog. May be store owners can write stories about their businesses and send me snap shots of their products. Hey, free advertisement is not bad.

Kapahulu Avenue

Kapahulu Avenue is set in the foreground of our island iconic Diamond Head. It is the official H-1 freeway exit to the world famous Waikiki Beach. Look for the Waikiki sign when you’re on the H-1 Freeway. Makai (Ocean) end of the avenue is Waikiki Beach, the Honolulu Zoo and Kapiolani Park. The Mauka (Mountain) end of the Avenue is the four way intersection of three streets, Waialae Ave, Kapiolani Ave and Kapahulu Ave. Along the Avenue are island favorite food places like Hee Hing, Sam Choys, Wasabi, Mr. Ojisan, Waiola Shave Ice, Rainbow Drive Inn, Ono Hawaiian Food and Leonard Bakery. You can also find sport shops like the Running Room, Island paddler, Island Triathlon, Soccer Locker, and Go Banana. Some fresh faces on the Avenue are Safeway Center, Sweet Blossoms Hawaii (florist), Nikie’s Cafe (Pho & Sandwitch), and Tenkaippin Restaurant (Japanese noodle), Pet Discount (at Market City). Stop by some of shops while you on your way to Waikiki Beach, Kapiolani Park, Honolulu Zoo, Shell Waikiki or Diamond Head. Street parking on Sunday are free!
