The sixth and twenty sixth miles of the Honolulu Marathon

The sixth and final miles of the Honolulu Marathon are located on the edge of Kapahulu. Residents loves to give the runners their cheers!

The sixth mile begins where Kalakaua Avenue fork left onto Monsarrat Avenue, along the back side of Honolulu Zoo, where art on the fence happens every Sunday. Look to the left, runners can have a glimpse of the finish line, which by the way is 20 miles away. After running pass the Waikiki Shell, and make a right, runners will run along Kapiolani Park on Paki Avenue with Diamond Head on the left. Runners will be tested for their first gentle uphill incline on Diamond Head Road, but also will be rewarded with an awesome view of Oahu’s coastline, with two lookouts ahead.

For the last mile of the course, it’s all down hill to the finish line. Runners will run once again under the chalky base of Diamond Head cliffs, pass the lighthouse, back onto Kalakaua Avenue, pass Sans Souci Beach, the Waikiki Aquarium and finally finish near the Kapiolani Park Bandstand. A job well done. Congratulation.
